THE SANSKRIT WORD "BHUU-GOL" WAS FIRST USED IN SURYA SIDDHANTA BETWEEN 4TH TO 5TH CENTURY BC. 

Bhuu-Gol means the spherical Earth. 🌎 

All kinds of religious texts at some point have made human errors that the earth is static and the sun revolves around, including Sanatan Dharma. But, why we can't justify counting Sanatan Dharma in the same category of the Abhrahamics is that it never claimed it as GOD's revelations! Sanatan Dharma, rather gave indepth cosmological information in its Vedas & Puranas & Bhagavatam later on!

I found some good notes saved in my file to share which are relevant to my earlier post today. 

MENTIONS OF EARTH AS A SPHERE, IN SANATAN.

The Yoga-Vāsiṣṭha (500 BCE) mentions that humans and animals walking on earth is akin to ants crawling on a ball. And that the earth is covered by cities, vegetations and mountains just like a like the walnut by its coat. The Rigveda (1800 BCE) also reiterates that the sun never sets nor rises, but that when the sun sets, it is actually creating day on the other side and likewise it rises while triggering night on the other side. It further stipulates that the Cosmic Spirit sustains the Sun and other spheres in equilibrium through the power of attraction. The Srimad-Bhagavatam (800 BCE) mentions that when one region experiences midday, a diametrically opposite region experiences midnight and vice-versa. Arguably, such explanations demonstrate a vague but accurate insight into the earth’s sphericity, especially from such ancient texts.

The existence of rather advanced concepts like the sphericity of Earth and the cause of seasons is clearly explained in Vedic literature.

The verses from the Aitareya Brahmana (3.44) clearly state:

The Sun does not set or rise. When people think the Sun is setting it, it is not so. After having arrived at the end of the day, it makes itself produce two opposite effects, making night to what is below and day to what is on the other side. Having reached the end of the night, it makes itself produce two opposite effects, making day to what is below and night to what is on the other side. In fact, the Sun never sets.

Shape of Earth is like an Oblate Spheroid (Rig Veda XXX. IV.V)

Earth is flattened at the poles (Markandeya Purana 54.12)

“Sixty-four centuries before Isaac Newton, the Hindu Rig-Veda asserted that gravitation held the universe together. The Sanskrit speaking Aryans subscribed to the idea of a spherical earth in an era when the Greeks believed in a flat one. The Indians of the fifth century A.D. calculated the age of the earth as 4.3 billion years; scientists in 19th century England were convinced it was 100 million years.” 

DEPICTION OF CELESTIAL OBJECTS IN SANATAN

If we observe the engravings of Nava Graha (9 planets), sun, moon, or celestial objects in hindu temples, they are in human forms. That doesn't mean Hinduism says they are humans. The rationale is that if the ancient wisdom knew about the existence of 9 planets, it is obvious they knew the shapes too! If we look at the ancient idols and deities of Hinduism, the Hindu gods, Goddesses, and avatars have been depicted with carrying the spherical earth! 🌎 

Please note that the  Sanskrit word Bhuu-Gol represented the much needed information in a crisp term!

OPPORTUNISTS' NARRATIVES

The opportunists find it convenient to quote Vishnu-Purana to show the human error, but conveniently avoid mentioning the Vedas where the deep knowledge in accuracy resides! The narrow optics of the Abrahamics allowed no amendment of acceptance to the truth that resided thousands of years before they were even born. 

When Galileo opposed the Geo-centric model, he faced the ordeal of his lifetime! It took 359 years for the Church to recognise the wrong. On October 31, 1992, the Pope formally apologised for the "Galileo Case." Galileo was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Roman Catholic Church in 1633. He was not tortured or executed as he was too old. He served his sentence under house arrest and died 9 years after at home in 1642. 

TRUTH RESIDES WHERE SEEKING IS ALLOWED. DOGMA EXISTS WHERE QUESTIONING IS BARRED. 

In Sanatan, human error has never been passed as God's words. In Sanatan, even God can be proved wrong. In Sanatan, humans & divinity are undual entities entitled to errors and accuracy. 

Think before you touch the ancient knowledge of Sanatana Dharma at your convenience to prove yourself superior to the truth. Please have complete knowledge before you make claims.😎
